pretty carpets, happy chloe

i was at malay village with syaiful, edmund and jenice on monday. the place was really packed because hari raya was just 2 days away.

while the boys were shopping for songkoks, i was busy looking at the stall selling carpets because the man was shouting joyously in malay about his pretty carpets.

it went something like this : -

“cantik cantik cantik! cantik cantik cantik! cantik! cantik! cantik!
CCCCCCCCCANNNNNNNNNNNTIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIIKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKKK!!!!!”

i felt happy hearing the chant even though i know he was chanting about his pretty carpets not me.

seems like all that i have managed to learn so far revolves around food/shit/pee/love. kena suan by mano today, after learning about my incorrigibly huge appetite for food, he made a remark about the malay words i am learning, “i know! you’re learning malay so you can order malay food!.”

michelle taught me this and it is the only malay phrase i know so far that best describes me.

saya suka ini, itu, semua which translates into “i like this, that, everything.”

 

another useful phrase:

saya nak kencing dan berak which means “i want to pee and shit.”

you had me at

“tuan tuan dan puan puan”.

how cute does that sound? it means ladies and gentlemen in malay. i kept repeating that because i found the sound of those words so amusing.

i’m completely sold.
