chloé : the goddess of bloom

the end of great skin

Posted in musings by chloe on June 4, 2008

i spent many years of my life searching for the answer to good, healthy, glowing and dewy skin.

it started with the very first pimple that became a cheekful of acne and later a face filled with excess sebums, blackheads and oil.

after countless facials, sessions with dermatologists, over the counter products, high class skin care products (not the luxury ones) and research through the net, books and magazines, i’ve finally concluded that i will never have skin that i can truly call great.

eating veges and fruits, avoiding sugars and drinking lots of water will not make your skin less oily. it will just give you less pimples and perhaps, a more radiant complexion but it is still not great skin to me.

oily skin gives you enlarged pores, excess sebums, discolouration of the skin, rough and uneven skin texture and a perpetual shine on your face. it melts away the make up on your face, forbids you to use cleansing oil and tinted moisturiser. argh!

no amount of cream you slap on your face can improve the situation. eating pills offers you a temporary solution to acne free skin and that’s about it. maybe only dr georgia lee (is it lee) can give me great skin but my wallet cannot afford to meet her. haha.

such acceptance is good because it stops me from searching for the next best thing. there’s just no wonder cream lah.

that’s the reason why i still love drx after using it for 7 months (that’s a real stretch!). there’s just no better skin care for oily and problematic skin even if the end result isn’t fann wong quality.

so i’ll just do my best and let photoshop do the rest. :)
